What purpose would be served by saying that?
Especially since the problem isn’t with the quote-unquote “movement,” but rather specific individuals who don’t seem to understand what equality means?
And the reason I’m so baffled by the use of the word “movement” is because is not a “movement” as it is, but rather a philosophy with different approaches and systems, a lot of which revolves around the same concept: “How do we end the Patriarchy and encourage people to treat men and women equally?”
I’m just utterly confused here. Did you not see that post I reblogged a bit ago about legitimate problems of racism and transphobia that can occur?
The reason I don’t reblog a lot about it is because my tumblr is about me reblogging Pokémon, Star Trek, Doctor Who, and other assorted geek minutiae and is not about social justice. Oh, and of course, my videos and fanart related to them. Yes, I’ll reblog stuff on occasion when I feel there’s something that’s important to be said or because I think it’s a good post, but I am not here to promote every single example of very stupid people saying and doing very stupid things.
I don’t know what you GET out of me saying something like that. Do you believe it to be some sort of moral victory? That a feminist admits that a philosophical system they adhere to and promote is not perfect? What a shocking development - that nothing is perfect and stupid people will say and do stupid things whenever the opportunity arises and that nobody has figured out a surefire, 100%-effective system to make everybody treat everybody else like a friggin’ human being.
I am here to stay on message and that message is: the patriarchy sucks for everybody and that overall feminism is still the best way to combat it.
